Dutch elections...

Maybe a bit of a strange topic to start my blog with, but hey, who said that I'm not a strange guy?
A few weeks ago the government in Holland has fallen. This because of a discussion about having dutch troops longer in Afganistan yes or not. The current two big political parties PvdA and CDA could not agree upon this and decided to pull the plug out of the government. Not too smart though if they had kept an eye on the weekly polls. Then they would have know that the extreme right party PVV was having a lot of "virtual" votes.
In times of economic problems people always try to blame others for what is going wrong. Also the problems in a country are never "our fault", but always "theirs". Voting on a party that agrees with that and only blame other people is very easy.
Oh! let me be honest... I am not right or left wing. Guess I am somewhere in the middle picking up the good points from left and right. Guess D66 is more my thing, but still not sure.

Even the extreme right PVV has some simpathy. I don't like them... don't agree with them... but at least they have the guts to name some of the problems a lot of "normal people" in Holland experience every day. Though, sollutions?? I haven't heard them yet... Also too radical and too extreme. Perhaps the VVD is more moderate and yet liberal in it's believes. But also the social norms and values are high in my beliefs... so... guess it's good I am living in Mexico and not able to vote this year. I do like to see what is going to happen with the elections and what it will bring.

Last new and nice addition to the elections was that the leader of the socialists, Wouter Bos from the PvdA had resigned and the Mayor of Amsterdam is going to lead the socialists: Job Cohen. Let's see what that will bring us. I would like to see him as the next Minister-President of Holland. Perhaps the idea of PvdA - VVD - D66 is a nice idea? Left, right and middle combined in one coalition. In the end Holland is just a small part of a bigger deal: the world economy and the European Community...

Here in Mexico we have the PAN leading the country. The PAN is what the VVD is in Holland. In the case of Mexico I believe the PAN is a logical choice in investing in the economy. Mexico could escape from that 3rd World stigma it still has. In my opinion this is the way to do it. Spending money to raise the economy. Ofcourse there are problems with this, like the rich and middle class are getting richer and the poor lower class getting poorer. In the end I believe that also the lower class people can get jobs, paid by the middle class and rich people. I do believe we have to invest in Mexico in good education. Children going to school and giving them a chance to get them in college or university, so they can escape from poverty. This is difficult because in many cases they don't want to escape and parents only want their children to do the same as they do.

Well, maybe that is something for another blog! It's complicated...
