John Lennon, maybe not the greatest musician but surely one of the most important ones. He changed music with The Beatles together with Paul, Ringo and George. He changed also the lives of many people all over the world. The Beatles were my first real experience with music. I remember as a little boy I was playing their songs on a very old recordplayer, the old singles with the typical big Green Apple label in the center. The old songs... listening them over and over again. This was about 35 years ago.
Lennon would have been 70 years old this year, but since he got murdered in New York 30 years ago in 1980 he only got 40. The same age I am now. I was just 10 when I saw the news about his death on the television. I remember it as it was "yesterday".
These marks in time makes you think. "Imagine" what Lennon could have done the last 30 years...
In fact Lennon made me watch at the world in a different way when I got older. As a kid it was just fun to hear good music. Later I started to really listen to his music, lyrics and words. Thinking about the world behind those lyrics. Maybe giving my own personal interpretation.
For me Lennon was an example in life... and still is.
